James Middleton Proposed to His French Girlfriend With an Elegant Ring

Erin Fitzpatrick

James and Alizee

It’s no secret we love the Middleton family. Yes, we cover plenty of the Duchess of Cambridge’s outfits, but we also love her siblings, Pippa and James Middleton. The latter is making news right now because he just proposed to his French girlfriend, Alizee Thevenet with an elegant ring. We cannot wait for their wedding that’s sure to be attended by a slew of royals. Do you remember the impossibly cute photos of Prince George and Princess Charlotte serving as a page boy and flower girl at Pippa’s wedding? Fingers crossed we’ll see a repeat for James’s big day.

James shared the news with a cute Instagram selfie that revealed Thevenet’s bli...

Student loans: A recipe to burn them off

Student loans

Like most of my friends, when I graduated from college, I was ready to take on the world and be a force for change. Unfortunately, like most other college graduates, I entered the job market with unpaid student loans. My first student loans bill 6 years ago drove reality home: I was staring at a balance of over $100,000.

I asked myself the same question you’re probably asking yourself right now: “How am I possibly going to pay off these student loans, buy a house, travel the world, and save for retirement?”

After taking a few deep breaths, I calmed down, composed myself, and thought long and hard about how to tackle this dilemma.

The balancing act

Don’t let student debt control you. Many indebted Americans don’t believe they can achieve financial success after starting out so fa...

How I Met My Hero James Garner

09/15/2019 Lifestyle  No comments

A few years ago Hollywood and the golfing world lost one of it’s biggest supporters and stars, and my hero, James Garner, aka Maverick. He was a great actor, a rabidly avid golfer, and by all accounts a genuinely nice guy. He was more than all that to me because he gave me one of, if not the most, cherished memories of my life.

James Garner, my heroIt happened when I was 3 or 4 yrs old so it would have been 1959 or 60 when Garner was riding high on the success of his TV show Maverick. I was probably the biggest fan in the entire world. So much so that I wouldn’t leave the house without my cowboy boots on (no real cowboy would be caught dead without his boots). Maverick was my hero. As it happened he was going to be playing in a celebrity exhibition golf tournament in Kansas City where I’m from...

Pecan Pie Bars are an unfussy, easy way to enjoy Pecan Pie! A thick buttery shortbread crust topped with sweet filling and crunchy pecans…Pecan Pie you can eat with your hands!

Pecan Pie Bars are an easy fall baking recipe.

Over the last few years I have become a HUGE Pecan Pie fan. It was always a pie option that I overlooked, especially if there were other pie offerings available. I’m not sure if it’s age, or I’ve just come to my senses, but Pecan Pie has become one of my most favorite pie recipes to bake.

Pecan Pie You Can Eat With Your Hands!

You might associate Pecan Pie with Thanksgiving and fall baking. And while that’s true, I have found that Pecan Pie is really a fantastic pie recipe to enjoy all year long, which of course includes these Pecan Pie Squares!

I mean, think about it…there are no true “seasonal” in...

Social Security widow's benefit

Corrine Jean Harkins lives at 2001 Airport-Pulling Road, Naples Florida 34112. Her PO Box for Social Security mailing purposes is PO Box 301 Naples Fl 34106. Corrine is 70. She has been taking her own retirement benefit since age 62. We’re posting her information because it’s the only way we can help her. Now there is a problem with her divorced widow’s benefit.

Last January her ex-husband from a 14-year marriage passed away. She went to her local office in Naples, Florida and applied for her excess divorced widow’s benefit. The agent who took all the information was pleasant, stating she’d be receiving a large increase — over $1,000 more per month, as her ex was receiving a very large benefit...

Instant Pot Review

Instant Pot Review

Over the last few years, I’ve been simplifying and reducing the tools and appliances in our kitchen and only keeping the ones we use often. In fact, our kitchen now has a simple assortment of unusual appliances and tools that we use every day. One appliance that has definitely earned its place on the list is the Instant Pot.

While it may feel like everyone in the world owns an Instant Pot now based on Instagram or social media, according to the most recent stats I could find (2018), only about 12% of households own one.

So, this review is for all of those “holdouts” because I promise you… it will change your life!

What Is an Instant Pot?

In short, it is an electric, programmable pressure cooker with a lot of extra functionality...

Flavored Coffee Creamer- Make It Last Longer

08/29/2019 CookingUncategorized  No comments

by Russ Jackson

Make Flavored Coffee Creamer Last Longer and Healthier– If you love your coffee with flavored creamer nearly as much as I do, then this is for you. You already know that creamer isn’t all that cheap, but again, if you love it like I do you buy it anyway.

This idea began one day while I was watching re-runs of the George Burns and Gracie Allen TV show on youtube. Originally broadcast in the fifties, they were “live” as all television was back then. They didn’t have “commercials” per se, so the commercials were written in as part of the show. Through much of the show’s run their sponsor was “Carnation Evaporated Milk, the milk from contented cows”. I became curious if it was as good in coffee as they claimed, so I ordered some from Amazon...

S'mores stuffed chocolate chip cookie- yum!

Chocolate Chip Cookies Stuffed with S’mores

from the Picky Palate

It’s the end of summer, back to school. Falling leaves and bonfires. What could be better than chocolate chip cookies for a treat!

I think I hear chocolate chip cookies calling my name! Time to try this recipe for  chocolate chip cookies stuffed with s’mores. Creamy marshmallows and chocolate in a slightly crispy cookie.

Cut marshmallows for cookies in half

I cut my marshmallows in half to stay on the graham crackers better.

Instead of full size s’mores, I separated the graham crackers into fourths to fit inside the cookies. Trust me, they are still massive, lol!

If I had 8 more hands I could have shown you this step. Now, note this gets a little finicky...
